About ToolSite

A free, accurate tool for tracking United Airlines Premier Qualifying Points — built for MileagePlus members who want clear answers, not guesswork.

Why We Built This

The MileagePlus app shows you how many PQP you've earned. It doesn't let you run "what if" scenarios before booking. We built the United PQP Calculator to fill that gap — so you can see exactly how a $600 Polaris Business fare compares to a $400 Economy ticket in terms of status progress before you commit to a booking.

The formula behind the calculator matches United's published MileagePlus Premier Qualifying Points rules: base fare multiplied by a class-of-service multiplier (0.5× for Basic Economy, 1.0× for Economy, 1.25× for Premium Plus, 1.5× for Polaris Business and United First), subject to route minimums of 4 PQP for domestic, 6 for short-haul international, and 8 for long-haul international. Credit card bonuses of 500 PQP per $12,000 in eligible Chase United card purchases are layered on top.

We're United flyers ourselves. We understand the frustration of arriving at December with 3,000 PQP short of a target that was achievable with different booking choices in March. This tool exists so that doesn't happen to you.

Built for United Flyers

Every input, output, and default value in this calculator reflects the real MileagePlus Premier Qualifying Points system — not a generic frequent flyer template. Status thresholds, card spend rules, and route minimums are all current as of 2026.

Forward-Looking, Not Backward

The app tells you what you've earned. We tell you what's possible. Enter a fare you're considering and see how it shifts your Silver, Gold, Platinum, or 1K timeline — before you book.

Verified Against Official Rules

Our earning rates and thresholds are cross-referenced against United's official MileagePlus program documentation and verified by active MileagePlus members. We update the calculator when United changes its program rules.

Educational Content

Beyond the calculator, our blog covers PQP earning strategies, fare class comparisons, credit card PQP bonuses, and Premier status tier breakdowns — all written for people who actually fly United, not SEO bots.

Our Editorial Process

Every calculation formula is sourced directly from United's published MileagePlus rules. We verify PQP earning rates against actual trip reports from active MileagePlus members and cross-reference thresholds against the United website annually. When United changes its Premier program requirements — as it did with the transition to the current PQP system — we update the calculator within 30 days.

Blog content is written by frequent United flyers with direct experience managing Premier status qualification across multiple calendar years. All factual claims in our articles are verified against official United program documentation or authoritative travel resources like the Asphalt Institute equivalent in this space — the MileagePlus program guide, FlyerTalk trip reports, and The Points Guy's independently researched earning guides.
